What are the complications of diabetes? -- edited
Diabetes can lead to acute (sudden and severe) and long-term complications — mainly due to extreme or prolonged high blood sugar levels.
Acute diabetes complications
Acute diabetes complications that can be life-threatening include:
Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS): This complication mainly affects people with Type 2 diabetes. It happens when your blood sugar levels are very high (over 600 milligrams per deciliter or mg/dL) for a long period, leading to severe dehydration and confusion. It requires immediate medical treatment.
Diabetes-related ketoacidosis (DKA): This complication mainly affects people with Type 1 diabetes or undiagnosed T1D. It happens when your body doesn’t have enough insulin. If your body doesn’t have insulin, it can’t use glucose for energy, so it breaks down fat instead. This process eventually releases substances called ketones, which turn your blood acidic. This causes labored breathing, vomiting and loss of consciousness. DKA requires immediate medical treatment.
Severe low blood sugar (hypoglycemia): Hypoglycemia happens when your blood sugar level drops below the range that’s healthy for you. Severe hypoglycemia is very low blood sugar. It mainly affects people with diabetes who use insulin. Signs include blurred or double vision, clumsiness, disorientation and seizures. It requires treatment with emergency glucagon and/or medical intervention.
Long-term diabetes complications
Blood glucose levels that remain high for too long can damage your body’s tissues and organs. This is mainly due to damage to your blood vessels and nerves, which support your body’s tissues.
Cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel) issues are the most common type of long-term diabetes complication. They include:
Coronary artery disease.
Heart attack.
Stroke.
Atherosclerosis.

Legal Requirements for Identification of and Educational Services for Children With ADHD
Two important federal mandates protect the rights of eligible children with ADHD-the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504). The regulations implementing these laws are 34 CFR sections 300 and 104, respectively, which require school districts to provide a "free appropriate public education" to students who meet their eligibility criteria. Although a child with ADHD may not be eligible for services under IDEA, he or she may meet the requirements of Section 504.

Educational Support System (ESS)
What is the Educational Support System (ESS)?Each student has different learning needs. For some students, learning new skills is not always easy. In some cases teachers seek assistance from the ESS team for intervention planning, consultation, and support for students in need. ESS is a child study team. Students’ needs may include academic needs related to reading, written language, mathematics, or other subject areas. Additionally, some students’ needs are related to their emotional well-being or behavior.ESS provides a means for educators and parents to collaborate and problem-solve individual student’s needs. ESS consists of a team of individuals who meet to discuss students’ needs, review assessment results, and develop plans to assist students in improving academically, emotionally, or behaviorally. The overall goal of ESS is to support students in need by intervening early, communicating often, and collaborating as a team to ensure your child’s success. How does my child get referred to the ESS team?Students are referred to ESS when a significant need in a core subject area is observed (i.e. failing grades or poor classroom performance) by the classroom teacher or another member of the team. Additionally, students may be referred if they show behaviors that impede their learning or that of other students. What does it mean if my child has been referred to the ESS team?If your child has been referred to the ESS team, it means that their teacher has concerns about their academic achievement or social, emotional, or behavioral skills that may require additional support, problem-solving, and intervention.Ref: https://www.asd.k12.pa.us/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=417161&type=d&pREC_ID=912361

What's the best diet for weight loss?
While that's not an unreasonable question, it often implies an approach that is less than optimal, which is to plan on adopting a radically restrictive mode of eating for a while, until the weight is lost, and then going back to eating as normal. Instead of embracing "fad diets," people who have lost weight—and kept it off—usually have made a permanent shift toward healthier eating habits. Simply replacing unhealthy foods with healthy ones—not for a few weeks, but forever—will help you achieve weight loss while also offering numerous other benefits. So a better set of questions might be, "What is a healthy diet? What does a healthy diet look like?"
A healthy diet favors natural, unprocessed foods over pre-packaged meals and snacks. It is balanced, meaning that it provides your body with all the nutrients and minerals it needs to function best. It emphasizes plant-based foods—especially fruits and vegetables—over animal foods. It contains plenty of protein. It is low in sugar and salt. It incorporates "healthy fats" including fish, olive oil and other plant-derived oils.

A Retrospective on A Teenager’s Experience Being Diagnosed and Treated for ADHD
students to recognize the conditions that trigger specific behaviors. Once
students to recognize the conditions that trigger specific behaviors. Once thesystem is developed, students can learn to manage their behavioral responsesbefore they occur.
For example, creating a signal and routine for “taking a five minutebreak” at a specified classroom location provides an opportunity for thestudent to recognize when he is becoming restless or frustrated and preventsbehavior from escalating. This system is most effective if used before thebehavior escalates or intensifies.
Choice as Reward: Choice in and of itself appears to be highly reinforcing.Provide choices of activities between assignments or embed choices withinassignments (e.g., choice of materials, readings, response modes, peer partners).Choices also provide students practice in decision making.

What is Agile methodology? (A beginner’s guide)
Agile methodology is a project management framework that breaks projects down into several dynamic phases, commonly known as sprints.
The Agile framework is an iterative methodology. After every sprint, teams reflect and look back to see if there was anything that could be improved so they can adjust their strategy for the next sprint.

ADHD and School interventions
School interventions should include a team approach across multiple settings, consisting of bothpreventive and intervention strategies.
Interventions must be based upon assessment data that includes information about the student’s strengths and needs as well as the environmental conditions in which her characteristics of ADHD occur.
Progress monitoring and strategy adjustments are critical to the success of any intervention plan (Wolraich & DuPaul, 2010).
The first step in creating classroom supports for students with ADHD is understanding thestudents’ strengths and needs. This involves formal and informal assessment, as well ascollaboration among educational professionals and the students’ families.
If a student is not responsive to behavioral strategies and interventions, more intensive interventions, such as functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plans, should be considered (see Practical FBA).
No one intervention is universally effective for all students with ADHD. A combination of research-based and promising practices is recommended.

What are the different stances on immigration in the US
The United States must adopt an immigration system that serves the national interest. To restore the rule of law and secure our border, President Trump is committed to constructing a border wall and ensuring the swift removal of unlawful entrants. To protect American workers, the President supports ending chain migration, eliminating the Visa Lottery, and moving the country to a merit-based entry system. These reforms will advance the safety and prosperity of all Americans while helping new citizens assimilate and flourish.

Eco Friendly
Eco-friendly literally means earth-friendly or not harmful to the environment (see References 1). This term most commonly refers to products that contribute to green living or practices that help conserve resources like water and energy. Eco-friendly products also prevent contributions to air, water and land pollution. You can engage in eco-friendly habits or practices by being more conscious of how you use resources.
Making a truly eco-friendly product keeps both environmental and human safety in mind. At a minimum, the product is non-toxic. Other eco-friendly attributes include the use of sustainably grown or raised ingredients, produced in ways that do not deplete the ecosystem. Organic ingredients or materials are grown without toxic pesticides or herbicides. Products with "made from recycled materials" contain glass, wood, metal or plastic reclaimed from waste products and made into something new. Biodegradable products break down through natural decomposition, which is less taxing on landfills and the ecosystem as a whole. (See References 3)

Creation Studio
Description is the pattern of narrative development that aims to make vivid a place, object, character, or group. Description is one of four rhetorical modes, along with exposition, argumentation, and narration. In practice it would be difficult to write literature that drew on just one of the four basic modes.
